YOUNG, PROMISING FILMMAKERS WILL GET TO KNOW THE INDIVIDUAL PHASES OF CREATING AN AUDIOVISUAL PIECE, THE FILM, AT OUR 5 DAY WORKSHOP. WE WILL FOCUS ON BASICS OF SCREENWRITING, DIRECTING AND WORKING IN FRONT OF CAMERA, PRODUCTION, WORKING WITH CAMERA, BUT ALSO EDITING AND SOUND COMPOSITION. WORKSHOPS ARE INTENDED MAINLY FOR STUDENTS FOCUSING ON ART OF FILM FROM ART AND HIGH SCHOOLS.
RECOMENDED AGE INTERFACE IS 14-21 YEARS.

ATTENDANTS WILL BE GUIDED TO TRANSFORM THEIR STORY ON GIVEN TOPIC INTO THE AUTHOR’S MINUTE FILM BY OUR FOUR LECTORS AT THE WORKSHOP. THIS YEAR THE TOPIC IS EMPATHY. YOU WILL WORK IN SMALL GROUPS. ONE LECTOR LEADS MAXIMUM THREE STUDENTS. THE LECTORS ARE YOUNG PROFESSIONALS FROM FILM ENVIRONMENT. EVERY ONE OF THEM HAS DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE, STUDENT OR PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND AND DIFFERENT VIEWS ON FILM ITSELF.
THE SCREENING OF FINAL FILMS FROM WORKSHOP WILL HAPPEN AS PUBLIC EVENT AT FILM FESTIVAL, WHERE WILL THE WORKSHOP TAKE PLACE (4 ŽIVLY, CINEMATIK, AZYL SHORTS). THE SCREENING WILL BE SUPPLEMENTED WITH DISCUSSION. THE AUTHORS OF THE FILMS WILL GET THE FEEDBACK FROM THEIR COLLEAGUES, LECTORS AND FESTIVAL AUDIENCE. THE WORKSHOP ATTENDANTS WILL BE ABLE TO JOIN COMPETITION FOR VALUABLE PRIZES. FILMS WIIL BE AVAILABLE AT THE WORKSHOP SECTION OF AZYL SHORTS FESTIVAL’S WEBSITE AFTER THE WORKSHOP’S END. THIS WAY FILMS WILL BE ABLE TO GET TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. PRODUCTION OF YOUNG FILMMAKERS IS SHARED ALSO ON FESTIVAL’S SOCIAL MEDIA –  FACEBOOK AND  INSTAGRAM. THE ORGANIZER’S PRIORITY IS THE SUPPORT OF AUDIOVISUAL EDUCATION. THE CAPACITY OF ATTENDANTS IS LIMITED. THE ORGANIZER PROVIDES ALL NEEDED EQUIPMENT. AZYL WORKSHOPS WERE FINANCIALLY SUPPORTED BY AUDIOVIZUÁLNY FOND AND NADÁCIA SPP.

she graduated in Audiovisual Art Production at Faculty of Film and television at Academy of Performing Arts. In addition, she has completed a year of media communication. She prefers to apply her production skills in the world of festivals and advertising. As a producer, she participated in the preparation of several film and music festivals.

IS THE GRADUATE OF DOCUMENTARY DEPARTMENT AT ACADEMY OF ARTS IN BANSKÁ BYSTRICA. HER BACHELOR'S DEGREE FILM "SEN / THE DREAM" WAS FILMED IN NEW YORK. SHE IS INVOLVED IN GRAPHICAL DESIGN, CREATION OF COMPANY IDENTITIES AND CREATING OF SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT BESIDES CINEMATOGRAPHY AND EDITING.

Barbora Sliepková

IS THE GRADUATE OF DEPARTMENT OF DOCUMENTARY DIRECTING AT FILM AND TELEVISION FACULTY OF ACADEMY OF PERFORMING ARTS IN BRATISLAVA (VŠMU). HER FEATURE DEBUTE FILM "ČIARY / THE LINES" WAS PREMIERED IN 2021. THE FILM IS STILL SCREENED AT CINEMAS HERE AND ABROAD, IT MANAGED TO WON MAIN PRIZE, AS WELL AS PRIZES FOR DEBUTE AND SOUND AT INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL JIHLAVA. APART FROM DIRECTING OF DOCUMENTARY MOVIES SHE FOCUSES ON CREATING FEATURES FOR RADIO, SHE CO-WORKS ON DISCUSSION SHOW "VEČERA S HAVRANOM" AND IS ONE OF THE DIRECTORS OF SLOVAK TELEVISION'S PROJECT "CESTA".

Valery Neskaradziany

IS STUDENT OF THIRD YEAR OF FILM DOCUMENTARY DEPARTMENT AT ACADEMY OF ARTS IN BANSKÁ BYSTRICA. HE WORKED ON SEVERAL SHORT, DOCUMENTARY MOVIES AND VARIOUS TELEVISION PROJECTS. HE FOCUSES ON SOCIALLY POLITICAL DOCUMENTARIES AND EXPERIMENTAL CINEMATOGRAPHY. HE IS FILMING HIS BACHELOR DEGREE GRADUATION FILM "ROZPTÝLENÉ HNIEZDO / SCATTERED NEST" ABOUT BELARUSIAN POLITICAL REFUGEES IN FRANCE, THAT WAS SUPPORTED BY SLOVAK AUDIOVISUAL FUND.

Michal Stašák

IS THE GRADUATE OF FILM DOCUMENTARY DEPARTMENT AT ACADEMY OF ARTS IN BANSKÁ BYSTRICA. HE WORKED ON SEVERAL SHORT FILMS, DOCUMENTARIES AND TELEVISION SERIES. HE IS INVOLVED IN CREATION OF COMMERCIALS AS WELL. HE DIRECTED FILMS "JANOVE ZRNO / JAN'S GRAIN" (2019) AND "GERUCA" (2022). AT THE TIME, HE IS WORKING ON SEVERAL PROJECTS AT HIS FILM STUDIO RYL MOTION.

Daniel Rihák

STUDIED CINEMATOGRAPHY AND PHOTOGRAPHY AT ESTC IN LISBON AND GRADUATED FILM DIRECTING AT VŠMU IN BRATISLAVA. HIS MASTER'S DEGREE FILM "VÝLET / THE TRIP" GOT INTO THE SHORTLIST OF BAFTA ST

Juraj Mravec

IS SLOVAK PHOTOGRAPHER, CINEMATOGRAPHER AND DIRECTOR. HE STUDIED PHOTOGRAPHY AT SCHOOL OF USEFUL ART OF JOSEF VYDRA IN BRATISLAVA AND GRADUATED PHOTOGRAPHY AND CINEMATOGRAPHY DEPARTMENT AT VŠMU IN BRATISLAVA. IN YEARS 2008-2016 HE COVERED SEVERAL IMPORTANT INCIDENTS AS A PHOTOGRAPHER AT HOME AND ABROAD (EG.: UKRAINIAN CRISIS, MIGRATION CRISIS, SLOVAK PRISONS). AT REPORTAGE CATEGORY HE WON SECOND PLACE AT CZECH PRESS PHOTO IN 2014 AND 2015 AND FIRST PLACE AT SLOVAK PRESS PHOTO 2015. HE COOPERATED ON SEVERAL DOCUMEATRIES AS A CAMERAMAN. HIS DIRECTING DEBUT IS "MIR VAM" (2016) CAPTURING WANDERING ALONG WAR LINE OF DONBAS, BETWEEN UKRAINE AND SEPARATIST REPUBLIC OF DONES AND MEMORIES OF PEOPLE WHOSE LIVES WERE SURPRISED BY WAR. ANOTHER MOVIE MAPPING LIVES OF WAR ZONE CIVILIANS IS "STRATENÝ DOMOV / LOST HOME" (2019) THAT OFFERS A PICTURE OF WAR WITH ISLAMIC STATE IN COUNTERPOINT TO PRIVATE LIVES OF SLOVAK RESCUE WORKERS. IN PRESENT HE WORKS ON NEW FILM IN ARMENIA.

Dominik Jursa

IS GRADUATE OF DOCUMENTARY DIRECTING DEPARTMENT OF FILM AND TELEVISION FACULTY OF VŠMU IN BRATISLAVA. HE STUDIED AT ATELIERS OF MGR. ART. MILAN BALOG AND DOC. ROBERT KIRCHHOFF ARTD. DURING HIS STUDIES HE WORKED AS A VIDEOEDITOR FOR HOSPODÁRSKE NOVINY, LATER FOR .TÝŽDEŇ. AS A DIRECTOR HE IS A FREELANCER. HE COOPERATED ON SEVERAL TELEVISION PROJECTS AND DOCUMENTARY CYCLES (EXPREMIÉRI: VLADIMÍR MEČIAR, BIELE VRANY A HRDINOVIA MEDZI NAMI: NA HRANICI). HIS GRADUATE FEATURE FILM DEBUT "ZLATÁ ZEM" IS FOCUSING DEEPLY ON TOPIC OF ENVIRONMENT, ON THE BACKGROUND OF FIGHT BETWEEN RESIDENTS OF SMALL VILLAGES IN EAST SLOVAKIA AND BIG AMERICAN OIL COMPANY. THIS YEAR HE WON JOURNALIST AWARD IN AUDIOVISUAL JOURNALISM CATEGORY.

Štefánia Lovasová

GRADUATED DIRECTING OF FEATURE FILMS AT VŠMU IN BRATISLAVA. HER FEATURE AND DOCUMENTARY FILMS ARE FOCUSING MAINLY ON CHILDREN AND YOUTH. SHE IS A MEMBER OF ASSOCIATION DESANT FILM HUB THROUGH WHICH SHE CO-ORGANIZED AND LECTURED EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOP LEKTVAR. SHE FOCUSES ON SHORT COMMERCIAL AND ALSO NONCOMMERCIAL FORMATS, SPOTS OR MUSIC VIDEOS.

Lukáš Marhefka

PhD student at FTF VŠMU, he produces a documentary movie "Alenka a zázrak z cudzej krajiny" directed by Daniel Dluhý, with DOP Juraj Mravec and in co-production with RTVS. In the past he cooperated in production on several interesting film projects that ran in cinemas in Slovakia and abroad (DOGG, Čiara / The Line, Slúžka / The Servant). In years 2018-2020, he worked as assistant director of Juraj Jakubisko and later also as production manager of his last film "Perinbaba a dva svety". He created RAMAGU o.z. that employs young people in culture and art sphere and focuses on his activities in cultural activism in Pieniny and Zamagurie region. He is the editor in chief of the independent journal "Zamagurské noviny". He is also active in theatre, where his biggest accomplishment is monodrama "Mengeleho dievča / Mengele's girl" after the book of the same name that is the best selling book in Slovakia from the 1989. (This show won several most prestigious Slovak awards.) In the past he directed documentary movies, adverts or radio play. He feels like amphibian in the film and theatre due to the fact that both are not only his destiny, but also his daily bread. He is 33, has wonderful wife Simonka and one year old daughter Dorotka.

RADOVAN MAJER

HE GRADUATED IN FILM SCREENWRITING AT THE ACADEMY OF ARTS IN BANSKÁ BYSTRICA AND FILM DIRECTING AT UTB IN ZLÍN. HE STUDIED A SEMESTER OF AUDIOVISUAL CREATION IN FINLAND AND A SEMESTER IN GREECE. HE IS A FREELANCE FILMMAKER, HAS COLLABORATED WITH THE STOP CORRUPTION FOUNDATION, RURAL DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY AND HAS LECTURED THE FUNDAMENTALS OF SCREENWRITING AT WORKSHOPS OF THE VŠM. HE WORKED AS A DRAMATURG ON SEVERAL STUDENT SEMESTER AND GRADUATE FILMS. IN ADDITION TO THE FILM, HE IS MAINLY DEDICATED TO VOLUNTEERING WORK WITH YOUTH.
